Question on the ballot:
“ |
Shall the city amend the city charter’s municipal court provisions by requiring the court to be established by city ordinance?[1][2] |
” |
Summary:
“ |
Currently, the City Charter names the municipal judge as a city officer and requires a municipal court be established and operated in a specific manner for particular offenses and/or crimes. Adoption of this amendment eliminates the requirements found in the charter and instead places the responsibility for establishing a municipal court and specifying its powers with the City Council via ordinance.[1][2] |
