Austan Goolsbee
Austan Goolsbee is a former representative on the Chicago Board of Education in Illinois. Mayor Rahm Emanuel appointed Goolsbee on December 14, 2018.[1]
Biography
Goolsbee began working at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business in 1995. He became the Robert P. Gwinn professor of economics at the school in 2005.[2][3] He also began serving as a member of the Economic Advisory Panel to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 2012.
Goolsbee served as chairman of President Barack Obama's (D) Council of Economic Advisers from 2010 to 2011. He was the chief economist for Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board from 2009 to 2011 and served as a member of the Panel of Economic Advisors to the Congressional Budget Office from 2007 to 2008.[2] He also served as a special consultant for internet policy to the U.S. Department of Justice's antitrust division from 2000 to 2001.[4]
Goolsbee was a Fulbright Scholar in 2007 and an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow from 2000 to 2002.[2] Click here to read Goolsbee's curriculum vitae.
