Ava Dejoie
Ava Dejoie was the Louisiana Executive Director of the Workforce Commission. Dejoie assumed office in 2016. Dejoie left office on January 8, 2024.
Dejoie was appointed by Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) in 2016 to replace Curt Eysink, who had been appointed by Bobby Jindal (R) in 2009.[1]
Dejoie resigned as Louisiana Executive Director of the Workforce Commission on January 8, 2024 at the conclusion of her term. [2]
Biography
Dejoie began working for the Louisiana Workforce Commission in 2012, serving as the statewide rapid response coordinator. Prior to that, she was a business liaison for the Louisiana Department of Education and the vice president of the Welfare to Work Partnership.[3][1] She was also a board member for Louisiana's Community and Technical Colleges.[4]

Political career
Executive Director of the Workforce Commission (2016-2024)
Dejoie became the executive director of the state workforce commission in January 2016 following her appointment by Gov. John Bel Edwards. The Workforce Commission, formerly the Department of Labor, monitors employment security, provides unemployment compensation, aids with manpower evaluation and training, labor-manangement relations, and administration of the community services block grant.[5]
Dejoie resigned as Louisiana Executive Director of the Workforce Commission on January 8, 2024 at the conclusion of her term. [6]
