I was born to and raised by a farming family in Sun Prairie. After graduating sun prairie high school, I went on to get a degree in political science and a law degree from UW-Madison. During school, I worked in state government for former representative Gary Hebl. I currently practice as an attorney in Sun Prairie.
  • Fighting through gridlock. I know firsthand that most voters with rural backgrounds vote republican. I will use my extensive farming connections to have conversation with rural voters, which will in turn pressure their lawmakers.
  • Getting teacher’s raises. It’s unacceptable that our public school teachers are paid well below the national average while 11% of our states education budget goes towards private schools. This money should be redirected so that we are paying our teachers what they deserve.
  • Expanding access to healthcare. Being one of only ten states to accept the Medicaid expansion is indefensible. Luckily for republicans, they’ve never had to defend it because Robin Vos won’t bring it to the floor. That will change with this session.
Beyond education and healthcare, there are a few things. One is conservation and the climate, especially preserving Wisconsin’s wetlands. Protecting democracy, especially be ending gerrymandering. Protecting rights, especially women’s rights to abortion, contraceptives, and IVF. Promoting affordable housing, especially by banning unfair rent increases. Keeping our kids safe from gun violence. Replacing our rigged tax system with one that makes the wealthy pay their fair share. The list goes on.
Integrity, hard work, and willingness to listen. A district has a lot of people, and that comes with diverse interests. Being honest about your priorities, working on the issues that matter to your district, and listening to the diverse interests of your district are crucial for me.
War and Peace. Tolstoys ability to convey a wide range of basic emotion in such a grounded, realistic novel is a literary achievement that I have yet to see any novel match.
Yes - working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle ensures that you can get work done regardless of the makeup of the legislature. This is especially true in a 50/50 state like Wisconsin.
What happens when a bunch of maternity nurses decide to change careers? It’s a midwife crisis!
A bill that commits Wisconsin to not giving any private schools money until public schools are fully funded - meaning teacher pay above national average, bargaining rights for teachers, and fully funding special education.
Former Rep. Gary Hebl, Rep. Jimmy Anderson, Center for Free thought Equality.
It would be great! A majority of Wisconsinites want legal abortion and legal cannabis. Unfortunately, Robin Vos has made sure that these popular initiatives stay off the ballot. Between gerrymandering and stripping the governor of powers, Vos has made sure that the only ballot measures we see are ones that benefit the special interests who have bought and paid for Vos. A ballot initiative process can help prevent capture by a crook like Vos ever happening again.
