|I direct a nonprofit that provides accountability on decision-making by local governments. In 2023, the OC Register named me one of the most influential people in OC. I chair the City of Irvine Sustainability Commission.
When three kids in my Quail Hill neighborhood were diagnosed with brain tumors, I partnered with UCI scientists and parents to win an organic landscaping policy for the City of Irvine which was later recognized for excellence by the CA Environmental Protection Agency. I wrote a how-to guide and helped people nationwide work toward the same change for their communities.
Last year I helped win a bus to transport southeast Irvine students to University High School.
Before I became a community leader, I had a successful career in the business world, working for some of the best-known companies in OC.
As a survivor of the Los Angeles foster care system, I have a special interest in providing safe environments for children. I worked hard and was fortunate to finish college and qualify for affordable housing when I moved to Irvine for a job 25 years ago.
My husband is an attorney and small business owner, and our two school-aged kids attend Irvine public schools.- Public Safety Support our police, fire and first responders to keep Irvine safe. Improve traffic conditions to reduce response times. Improve street infrastructure to make biking and walking safe city-wide.
- Traffic and Sustainability Enhance public transit to get more cars off the road, improving traffic and reducing pollution. Provide safe routes to school for all grade levels. Ensure new neighborhoods include schools, parks, retail and other key amenities.
- Cost of Housing Provide more starter homes for purchase rather than apartments to enable families to climb the economic ladder and create the American dream. Require new development to include homes affordable to teachers, firefighters and police officers, so they can continue to live in the city they serve.
Focusing Resources on Community Needs - I will ensure our hard-earned tax dollars are spent on programs that benefit the community, not special interests or backroom deals.
Prioritizing public safety and health - People have a right to be healthy and safe where they live, work and play. I will support community infrastructure that protects our health, safety and the environment.
Resourcefulness - Orange County is last in state funding – it gets less funding than any of California’s 58 counties because of a long history of elected leaders who do not think it matters if we get anything in return for our tax dollars. I will make it a priority to work with our state and federal elected officials to bring our fair share back to Irvine.
