Three seats on the Baker Valley Unified School District school board in California were scheduled to be up for primary election on June 5, 2018, and general election on November 6, 2018. Incumbents Darlene Bracken and Nathan Cranmer and newcomer Karen Hall, however, were the only candidates who filed to run in this election. Because of this, the election was canceled. All three candidates were elected to the board by default.[1][2]

Due to lack of opposition, this election did not appear on the ballot. Incumbents Darlene Bracken and Nathan Cranmer and newcomer Karen Hall were elected to the board by default.[2]

About the district
The Baker Valley Unified School District is located in California. The district served 125 students in the 2015-2016 school year.
Pivot Counties

There are no Pivot Counties in California. Pivot Counties are counties that voted for Barack Obama (D) in 2008 and 2012 and for Donald Trump (R) in 2016. Altogether, the nation had 206 Pivot Counties, with most being concentrated in upper midwestern and northeastern states.
In the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton (D) won California with 61.7 percent of the vote. Donald Trump (R) received 31.6 percent. In presidential elections between 1900 and 2016, California voted Republican 53.33 percent of the time and Democratic 43.33 percent of the time. In the five presidential elections between 2000 and 2016, California voted Democratic all five times. In 2016, California had 55 electoral votes, which was the most of any state. The 55 electoral votes were 10.2 percent of all 538 available electoral votes and were 20.4 percent of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.
