January 3, 2011

Helena, Montana: Beth Baker was sworn in to the Montana Supreme Court on January 3, 2011. She defeated District Judge Nels Swandalin the November 2010 general election and replaces Justice William Leaphart, who also endorsed her. U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell, for whom Baker clerked for four years, said of her, "Now, she's where she belongs...Beth Baker is a premier human being. She's outstanding in every respect."

Baker's previous legal career included service as a law clerk for Judge Lovell, four years as a chief deputy attorney general with the Department of Justice, and ten years (2000 - 2010) as a member of the firm Hughes, Kellner, Sullivan and Alke.[1]
