JUNEAU: Alaska: There are 59 total legislative seats with 2012 elections in Alaska, where polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Alaska Time.[1] The state is divided between the Alaska time zone and the Hawaii-Aleutian time zone.
The State Senate is currently in the unique position of being equally split between Democrats and Republicans, with each party holding 10 seats. Republicans controlled the redistricting process, increasing the likelihood that they will gain control of the Upper Chamber in 2012.[2]

- In District 17 (Q): Incumbents Albert Kookesh (D) and Bert Stedman (R) will face off.
House
- In District 2: Incumbent Democrat Bob Miller will face Republican incumbent Tammie Wilson.
