ANNAPOLIS: Maryland: Maryland has eight U.S. House seats and one U.S. Senate seat on the ballot in 2012. All eight U.S. House incumbents face at least two challengers in the general election. The U.S. Senate seat's incumbent is facing seven challengers in the general election.
Currently, Democrats hold six Congressional seats with two held by the Republican Party. The Democratic Party holds both U.S. Senate seats -- one of which is up for election on November 6th.
In Maryland, all polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Eastern Time.[1]

U.S. Senate
Incumbent Ben Cardin (D) is running for re-election in 2012. He was first elected in 2006. He is facing seven challengers, but both the New York Times race ratings and the Cook Political Report race ratings list this race as Solid Democratic.[2][3] Cardin is expected to coast to re-election.

U.S. House
Maryland's 6th Congressional District is considered to be Leaning Democratic according to the New York Times race ratings and Likely Democratic according to the Cook Political Report race ratings. Republican incumbent Roscoe Bartlett is challenged by John Delaney, in a district that has been redrawn via redistricting to be far more Democratic.[4][5]
Maryland's 6th District has been included in the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's "Red to Blue List," which identifies districts that the organization has specifically targeted to flip from Republican to Democratic control.[6]
