This week's question was How many of the 192 top state executive officials hold law degrees?
You answered: 93 (48%).
You are correct!
Of the 192 officeholders currently occupying the top four executive positions in each state—governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and secretary of state—93 (48%) have a law degree. Apart from a bachelor's degree—which 184 executives (96%) have—a law degree is the second-most common level of educational attainment for state executive officials.
Law degrees are so common partly due to the presence of attorneys general, a state's chief law legal officer. While only 30 states require that attorneys general have a law degree or be licensed to practice law in the state, all 50 current officeholders have earned a law degree.
