Democrats

  • Financial industry donors like investment executive Marc Spilker and developer George Tsunis are reportedly backing Cory Booker’s presidential campaign. Tsunis said that he would also back Joe Biden if he entered the race.

  • Susie Tompkins Buell, a Democratic donor who brought in $6 million for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, will reportedly host a fundraiser for Pete Buttigieg. Buell had previously expressed support for Kamala Harris and will also hold a fundraiser for her.

  • Buttigieg also campaigned in San Francisco, California, where he said that he was running “not to be a candidate for the LGBTQ community alone, or for any one group,” but for all Americans.

  • Julián Castro is campaigning in Iowa and Nevada over the weekend. He was interviewed by NBC 5 Dallas Fort-Worth Thursday.

  • Friday morning, John Delaney released the “Heartland Fair Deal,” a 23-point plan on how to revitalize rural America. The plan includes doubling the Earned Income Tax Credits in opportunity zones, student loan forgiveness for people who live and work in small towns for 10 years, and prioritizing government contracts to companies that primarily employees in rural areas.

  • Tulsi Gabbard introduced the Securing America’s Elections Act, which would require auditable paper ballots in federal elections.

  • Harris announced endorsements from three more state legislators in South Carolina and gubernatorial candidate Marguerite Williams.

  • Politico Magazine profiled John Hickenlooper, describing his style on the campaign trail as “radical transparency.”

  • Wayne Messam is holding his presidential kickoff event in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Saturday.

  • Beto O'Rourke hired Norm Sterzenbach, a top Iowa political consultant who helped develop major changes to the state caucuses this year, including virtual caucuses, as a senior Iowa strategist.

  • Bernie Sanders wrote an op-ed in The Des Moines Register outlining his plan to use antitrust laws to support small farmers over large agribusinesses.

  • Andrew Yang was interviewed by Huffington Post about his experience growing up in the United States as the son of Taiwanese immigrants.

  • The Democratic National Committee announced that the first Democratic primary debates would be held in Miami on June 26 and 27. The debate will be broadcast by  NBC News, MSNBC, and Telemundo.

  • Since December 30, Donald Trump has spent $3.6 million on Facebook ads featuring Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the border wall, and the Mueller investigation.

  • Trump campaigned in Michigan on Thursday night, holding a rally in Grand Rapids, where he focused on the release of the Mueller report.

  • The American Civil Liberties Union is launching its "Rights for All" voter engagement campaign this weekend, marking the first time the organization will be involved in a presidential election.

  • Delaware joined 12 other states and the District of Columbia in the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact Thursday. These jurisdictions, which collectively represent 184 electoral votes, have agreed to pledge their electoral votes to the national popular vote winner. The compact does not take effect until jurisdictions collectively representing 270 electoral votes or more join.
