The highest voter turnout rate in the 2016 presidential election was 74.2% in Minnesota. Minnesota was followed by New Hampshire (71.4%), Maine (70.5%), Colorado (70.1%), and Wisconsin (69.4%).[1]
Minnesota also led in voter turnout during the 2012 (76.0%), 2008 (77.8%), and 2004 (78.8%) presidential elections.
Nationwide, 59.3% of eligible voters participated in the 2016 presidential election. The only state with turnout under 50% was Hawaii, where 42.2% of voters cast ballots for president.
