Trivia answer
Which of the following states are tied for the least delegates at this year's Democratic National Convention?
a. Alaska and Montana
b. Delaware and Utah
c. Hawaii and Mississippi
d. North Dakota and Wyoming
The Democratic presidential nominee will be selected by delegates participating in the Democratic National Convention, which will be held July 13-16, 2020, in Milwaukee. In 2020, there will be 4,750 delegates: 3,979 pledged delegates and 771 automatic delegates—more commonly known as superdelegates.[1] North Dakota and Wyoming will have 18 delegates each, fewer than any other state.
Delegates to the Democratic National Committee are allocated to states based on a formula which considers the state's popular vote for the Democratic nominee in the past three presidential elections, the number of votes the state has in the Electoral College, and the date of the state's primary.[2]
There are five other states with 25 or fewer delegates in the 2020 Democratic National Convention. Alaska has 19 delegates, while South Dakota has 21, Vermont has 24, and Idaho and Montana have 25 each. Three states have 250 or more delegates: California has 494, while New York has 320 and Texas has 261.
The map below compares delegate counts by state. A lighter shade of blue indicates a smaller number of delegates while a darker shade indicates a larger number.
