Ballotpedia:How we review candidate video submissions
Ballotpedia invites all candidates to complete our Candidate Connection survey when they run for elected office. As part of the survey, candidates are invited to submit a video about their campaign. After review, these videos are embedded on the candidate's Ballotpedia profile for voters to watch.
Ballotpedia will not embed videos that:
- Were not uploaded by the candidate's campaign YouTube account
- Are longer than two minutes
- Are part of the YouTube Shorts program
- Are created or edited using generative AI
- Contain copyrighted material (for example, clips from news broadcasts)
- Contain sexual material
- Contain violent material
- Contain threats of violence
- Contain illegal activity
- Contain profanity
- Contain impersonations of other people
- Do not mention the person's candidacy
- Criticize an opponent before mentioning the candidate (we are seeking a video primarily about the candidate in question, not attack ads focused on their opponents)
