News about ballot measures
Ballot measure afficionados have barely had time to catch their breath from the November 3, 2009 statewide ballot measure elections and already the 2010 ballot season is crowding in. The first statewide ballot measure election of 2010 takes place on January 26, 2009 when Oregon voters will tackle Measure 66 and Measure 67. Look for a knock-down, drag-out battle over whether two tax hikes totalling $733 million, signed into law by Gov. Ted Kulongoski on July 20, 2009, will meet with the approval of the state's voters.
In Maine, low-tax advocates have also qualified a veto referendum measure for a 2010 ballot: Maine tax code referendum approved for June 2010 ballot.
