About the project

The Tribal Courts project is a project on Ballotpedia that seeks to provide comprehensive information about the various Native American Tribal Courts in the United States. Volunteers are sought in order to move this project along; if you are interested, feel free to begin editing. If you have any questions, you can ask on the project discussion page.

Project templates

These are the templates associated with this project.

  • {{tribal courts project}} - to place on the talk page of any article within this project
  • {{tribal courts}} - a horizontal navigational template to be placed at the bottom of like pages within the project (example)
  • {{tribal sprout}} - to be placed on any sprout articles within the project, and removed once an article is filled out

Project guidelines

Along with providing comprehensive information about all of the Native American Tribal Courts in the United States, there are certain elements that ought to be present on each page for the sake of consistency. These elements are:

  • The page name in bold.
  • This code: {{tnr}} which moves the table of contents to the right side of the page.
  • Inter-wiki links to associated pages in the introduction. For example, the Hopi Appellate Court page links to the Hopi Tribal Courts page in the first sentence.
  • An introduction containing summary information about the court.
  • A section describing the jurisdiction of the court.
  • A section summarizing the history of the court.
  • A section listing the court's judges.
  • An external links section containing useful research links about the court.
  • A references section where all cited information will appear. (JP standard is to use the {{reflist}} method.)
  • Horizontal navigational templates placed at the bottom of the page to assist in finding similar information.
  • One or more categories.

Talk pages

The discussion (or "talk") pages connected to each article in this project should have the {{tribal courts project}} template on them.
