Voting in 2020

Voting this year will be unlike any modern election with all the changes implemented in response to the pandemic.

To make voting easier, Ballotpedia launched a voting center that gives you all the nitty gritty of how to vote.

You can find out important mail-in information like

  • When and how to request an absentee/mail-in voting ballot
    • Some states require you to meet certain criteria to request a ballot to vote from home
    • COVID-19 is a reason to request to vote absentee in some but not all states
  • What documentation you need to supply when voting
    • In some states you need to include a photocopy of your photo ID for instance
  • When your actual ballot is due back
    • Make sure to note if your ballot needs to be received by or postmarked by that date
    • If you need witness/notary when you sign your ballot

  • If you need an ID and what types of ID count
    • IDs can range from photos IDs to utility bills
  • If your state offers early voting
    • Beat the line on November 3rd
  • If your employer is required to give you time off to vote and pay you for that time
    • Time off to vote is available in 28 states
  • If you can take notes into the voting booth with you
    • Ballots can be long; you might want a cheat sheet
  • If you can take a selfie in the voting booth
    • Allowed in 24 states #NoFilterVoting
