Lookup tool streamlines process of researching individual races
Middleton, Wis. - October 10, 2016: As the momentous general election draws nearer, at Ballotpedia we think it’s crucial that our readers be as informed as they can be this November at the ballot box. And for many Americans darting between work and child care, the reality is that time is of the essence. Enter Ballotpedia’s sample ballot lookup tool. From the presidential race to school board elections — and all the state ballot measures in between — our sample ballot pulls from over 17,000 candidates running in over 7,400 elections to show you what’s on the ballot for your registered address. With information compiled by our expert professional staff, the sample ballot tool is comprehensive and covers all 50 states. What else can it do?
- Provides additional information about each candidate
- Gives you the ability to share the tool with your social networks
- Produces the polling hours for your state
- Provides a link to get information about your polling place
- See here for additional functionality!
How does it work? Ballotpedia's sample ballot tool pinpoints your address on a map to find which districts your home lies within. It then checks to see which elections are happening in those districts and pulls information from our database on all the candidates running in those elections, plus all the measures on the ballot in your state. But a sample ballot tool is only as good as its accuracy. To ensure that the sample ballot matches your actual ballot, our team performs a variety of tests for each state, including running a spot test of different addresses and manually checking each result. We do not settle for anything less than 100 percent accuracy.
