1. Healthcare - access, cost and quality.

2. Public Education - a robust public education system is the foundation for our country.

3. The air we breathe and the water we drink.

Humility.
Service above self.

Give a voice to those who feel disenfranchised.
The assassination of President John Kennedy. I was a student nurse, doing my pediatric rotation and caring for a dying baby, when I became aware of an eerie stillness in the hospital hallway. I ventured out of the baby's private room to see quietly crying people gathering before the lounge TV. It was so difficult to process that our president had been shot and I wanted to stay with my colleagues for my own comfort, but I had to return to comfort and care for my little patient.
My first job was as a nurse's aide during the summer of my junior year in high school. It was only a 3 month job, but it exposed me to the hospital world and confirmed my decision to become a nurse.
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand .

Unbroken is a biography of Louis Zamperini, a former Olympic track star who survived a plane crash i the Pacific theater, spent 47 days drifting on a raft, and then survived more than two and a half years as a prisoner of war in three brutal Japanese POW camps.

Louis Zamperini demonstrates the amazing ability of the human spirit and body to survive under unimaginable conditions and the human hearts' capacity for forgiveness.

"Dignity is as essential to human life as water, food, and oxygen." I believe that each individual has a responsibility and must work to provide dignity to the citizens of this country.
It is beneficial for state legislators to have had some leadership experience of some type, but it is most important that they possess the necessary skill set for the position. The ability to listen, communicate in all forms, problem solve, negotiate, research, willingness to learn, see the big picture, and represent all the people in their district.
High quality, cost effective healthcare.

Robust public education system.

Protecting the water we drink, the air we breathe and the soil that nurtures our food.
Yes. It is beneficial to understand each other's perspective on an issue and look for common ground. We are more alike than we are different. When we locate that common ground we can build on it.
I would like to serve on the following committees: Education, Environment, and Health.
