Jaime Lerner - please google him. He was an urban planner and mayor of Curitiba, Brazil. Curitiba is the same size as Dallas. Jaime worked within his budget - which was much smaller than Dallas to provide the services needed to make the city prosper. Please read anything on him - He is a thought leader in city management.

I have always enjoyed the movie Big Country with Gregory Peck. He has principles and integrity that are not talked about - he just lives them.

Integrity to not be tempted by what may look good in the short term, but to build for the next generation. To be willing to risk political capital to make the hard decisions. People on drugs need treatment, no tolerance for sex trafficking.

Patience - good at consensus building. Good at making presentations that illustrate a point.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To be worthy of the public trust. Good at budgeting. Willing to ask tough questions and to know what questions to ask. For Example: Why does the CFO of Dallas think it may be ok to sell the DFW airport to pay for a landfill when we are not charging enough at the landfill today to cover that future cost? Talk about robbing future generations of a windfall. I think our younger generation is getting really tired of this kind of thinking.
