Barbara Elmore is the Division 1 circuit judge of the Twenty-Third Circuit of Arkansas. She was appointed to the position by Governor Mike Beebe in 2007 after the Arkansas Legislature created the judgeship. She was then elected to a full term in 2008. She was re-elected to the Twenty-Third Circuit on May 20, 2014 for a term expiring in 2020.[1][2][3][4][5]

Education

Elmore earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She received her J.D. from UALR's William H. Bowen School of Law.[1]

Career

Prior to being appointed to Division 1, Elmore was a circuit judge in other divisions of the 23rd Circuit. She was also the district judge of the Southern District of Lonoke County, Lonoke Division from 2005 to 2007. Previously, Elmore was both a criminal prosecuting attorney and defense attorney working in private practice. Elmore was admitted to the bar in 1995.[6][2][1]
