Barbara Jaffe
Barbara Jaffe was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 1st Judicial District. She assumed office in 2010. She left office on December 31, 2021.
Jaffe (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the New York City Civil Court New York County to represent Manhattan 9th Municipal Court District. She won in the general election on November 2, 2021.
Biography
Education
Jaffe received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Syracuse University in 1974 and 1981, respectively. She then attended Brooklyn Law School and received her J.D. degree in 1984.[1]
Career
Jaffe began her career in 1984 as an associate appellate counsel to The Legal Aid Society. She then worked as a principal court attorney to an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court from 1986 to 1995 and to a Justice of the Supreme Court from 1995 to 2002. That year, she was elected to a nine-year term on the New York City Civil Court. In 2010, she began serving as an acting justice of the Supreme Court.[1]
