Barbara N. Haynes was a judge of the Twentieth Circuit Court, 3rd Division in Tennessee. She served in this position from 1990 to 2011. In 2006, she was re-elected without opposition to another term on the Twentieth Circuit Court, which would have ended in 2014.[1][2][3][4] However, Haynes retired from the court on November 15, 2011.[5]

Education

Haynes received her B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee in 1959 and her J.D. degree from the Nashville School of Law in 1976.[2]

Career

Haynes is a former legal assistant on a congressional staff and former partner of the Law Firm of Haynes and Freeman. She first became a judge in 1982, when she was elected to the Davidson County General Sessions Court, Division I. From 1986 to 1994, she was the Chair of the Tennessee Sentencing Commission and she became a circuit court judge in 1990.[1][2]
