Stevens published the following candidate statement on her campaign website:

Barbara Stevens Candidate Statement

As a parent of a very successful Helix Charter High School graduate who has also graduated from college, I appreciate and thank every single teacher and staff member who helped her on her path.

I appreciate every dedicated teacher and staff member at ALL the high schools in the District.

We are an outstanding community. We need a new voice and a fresh view on the Grossmont Board, someone to listen to the concerns of the dedicated parents, teachers, community members and administrators of the District.

We need transparency, and a full and responsible accounting of all financial information.

I will listen and actively seek feedback on all issues. I pledge to change the current “status quo” to an active and involved Board with our students as top priority.

I grew up in San Diego myself. I am a graduate of Point Loma High School, and San Diego State University (BA). [2]
