I am Barbara Yates-Lockamy, a lifelong resident of beautiful Southeastern NC. I am "Committed" to serving people. I have shown this with over 30 years of experience in public school education. During my tenure in education, I have served as a teacher, career counselor, VoCATS Coordinator, Special Population Coordinator, Human Resource Service Coordinator, Staff Development Coordinator, and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resource Services. I have also held "Trusted" supervisory roles with Risk Management, Child Nutrition and Maintenance. As your candidate, I want you to know that I am "Committed" and "Trusted" to lead and represent what's best for our families and community in the State House. I was educated in the Columbus County School System and obtained an Associate Degree from Southeastern Community College and an undergraduate degree in Business Education from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. I completed my graduate work at the University of South Carolina at Columbia, SC receiving a Master's degree in Education. In addition, I have course work in Educational Counseling from the University of South Carolina. All of these details are not mere educational accomplishments, but they are elements of my "Committed" life to learn how to serve people in a greater capacity.
  • We Deserve A Better Future for Our Children -The most precious asset within any community is the life of a child. WE Must ensure God-fearing care is provided for their life. This means providing our children with an education system that prepares them for academic success and future careers.
  • We Deserve A Good Quality of Life- This means ensuring that Parents have jobs and economic opportunities with living wages to take care of their families. Without economic growth, the sad truth is that we will not have the jobs necessary to sustain our families.
  • We Deserve Love & Respect- The fight against healthcare expansion is nothing less than inhumane. It is immoral to overlook any person needing medical care and refuse them the services needed. We deserve quality affordable healthcare that will provide our children with medical services needed to live a long and healthy life in an environment that is protected: Clean Water, Clean Air, Clean Food Source
As a retired educator from the Classroom to the Boardroom, education for our children is the greatest area of needed public policy. I am passionate about helping our children become fully educated and prepared for success. Tied in with these public policies is a universal commitment to medicaid expansion .
I have a compassion matched with proven life commitment to serving families in every stage of education. I believe in servant leadership that can help all people regardless of background. We all want the same God given rights of love, respect, life and liberty.
