My name is Barcia Alejos and I am a Double Blue Star Mom who raised all of my three children with values of God, family, and country. When two of my sons went directly out of high school to serve their country when they were accepted into the US Naval Academy and West Point respectively, I never expected that they may be faced with being asked to defend policies that are contradictory to the reasons they joined in the first place. As a mother and and a citizen, I am NOT okay with this and as I saw these policies permeate into my own beloved city of Indianapolis when I saw it burn, suffer destruction, and crime soar in recent years, I decided that I needed to answer the call to be in the game to change the trajectory of our city! I was no longer satisfied with sitting on the sidelines. I am in the game to be the change we need in Indianapolis, Marion County, and our country to make our neighborhoods and our communities the best and safest places to live, work, and raise our families! As a proven businesswoman, I am able to answer the call for leadership by running for Marion County Recorder
  • As a proven businesswoman, I can bring leadership, management and administration experience to the office of Marion County Recorder. We need citizens to step forward to answer the call to return our county to responsible governance and I am answering that call.
  • The Marion County Establishment has failed to provide responsible leadership in Marion County, so it is time to change the trajectory. in our city and county to return it to responsible leadership. I am willing to step forward to answer the call to return our county to responsible leadership.
  • As a double Blue Star Mom and wife of a naturalized citizen, the County Recorder's duties for expediante and accurate military discharges and home ownership rights for all citizens are personal and important for me to make sure these are carried out for all citizens of Marion County.
As a constitutionally mandated office, the Marion County Recorder is charged with ensuring property rights of the citizens are protected.

Our country’s founding fathers understood the importance of private property as a foundational principle in The Constitution, not only to cultivate a society of prosperity but of freedom itself. Therefore by way of common law and state law, the implementation and execution that these fundamental rights be clear and readily available for all citizens is entrusted to the office of County Recorder. This office is charged with the important job to protect citizens’ property rights by making information transparent and available to acquire, use, and dispose of property freely. The office of Recorder also provides documents besides mortgages and deeds to include business names, military discharges, and family trees.

Barcia Alejos is using her skill set in business, organization, and optimization of efficiency to respond to the need for responsible leadership. She believes this office upholds a very important principle of government of the right to own property and the right to buy and sell freely. Having the information to do this efficiently and accurately is essential to do this. We need to respond to the need for responsible governance on every level in Marion County.

From a very young age I learned I was born on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday and so I learned as much about him as I could. I read books about him and other great leaders of the day such as Frederick Douglas and Harriet Tubman. Their courage to stand up to evil and stand for a “more perfect union” has always inspired and driven me.
Yes, The Constitution and The Federalist Papers by John Jay and Alexander Hamilton, most exemplify my view of government. We need to keep as much of our government closest to the people as possible.
I want to leave a legacy of returning our county and city to be the best place to live, raise a family, and be a part of the community again.
The office of Recorder also provides documents besides mortgages and deeds to include business names, military discharges, and family trees.
I think it is very important that citizens step forward for all political and government offices. Our government was never meant to be a long term profession for anyone or to create a political class in and of itself. This brings to mind a quote from President Ronald Reagan. " Professional politicians like to talk about the value of experience in government. Nuts! The only experience you gain in politics is how to be political."

My proven experience in business, administration, and leadership is exactly what is needed for this office.
