I am an AC Transit bus rider and do not own a car. I have lived in AC Transit Ward 4 for nearly 30 years. I have been very active in improving this community for decades and connecting with all stakeholders. I am an elected member of the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee and an appointed executive board member of the California Democratic Party: There I create and endorse policy at the local, regional, state, and federal levels including transportation policy. I am a former League of Women Voters Bay Area Observer of AC Transit Board and Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and former TransForm organizer: Those organizations are focused specifically on transportation policy.

I am already a proven leader in AC Transit District Ward 4: I was the catalyst for multimillion-dollar corridor improvement projects recently completed here. We now have new street pavement, new traffic signals, bike lanes (we never had those before), new improved bus shelters, an adequate amount of street lights, new wider ADA-approved sidewalks, and much more. The projects have made our corridors significantly safer and more accessible to bus riders, pedestrians, bike riders, and our entire community.

If elected to office, I would be the first woman of color to fill the seat.

  • I am a proven leader for our community of AC Transit ward 4.
  • I will create more reliability, accessibility, and equity for everyone. I will support environmental sustainability and our transit workers.
  • I have the experience, vision, and resolve to move AC Transit Forward.
My goal is to continue improving AC Transit. Those plans include but are not limited to: Increasing service to pre-pandemic levels and beyond, hiring more AC Transit workers, continuing free PPE for riders and drivers, and expanding Bus Rapid Transit service to mid and south Alameda County. Until we get back to pre-pandemic ridership, we need to do all that we can to bring riders back. I also want to provide free transfers and fares to help increase ridership and increase the reliability of AC Transit service. Increasing ridership will also help us protect our communities from environmental toxins and help achieve climate protection goals. I want to increase the entire fleet of AC Transit Buses to zero emission and create significantly more transit-oriented development for healthy communities.
I will advocate for legislation or a ballot measure that will create a long-term funding source for all of the strategies mentioned.
