Barry E. Warhit is a judge for the 2nd Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. He assumed office on May 25, 2022. His current term ends on December 31, 2027.

Warhit is also a judge of the New York Supreme Court 9th Judicial District. His current term ends on January 1, 2034.

Warhit was appointed to Westchester County Court position by Gov. David Paterson (D) on April 16, 2010.[1][2]

Education

Warhit received his B.S. degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School in 1978 and his J.D. degree from the Duke University School of Law in 1981.[2]

Career

Warhit began his legal career in 1981 as an associate of the law firm of Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen. The following year, he became an Assistant District Attorney of New York County. He worked in that position through 1985 and then joined the law firm of Lester, Schwab, Katz & Dwyer, where he practiced from 1986 to 1989. From 1994 to 2010, he worked as a self-employed criminal trial lawyer. He also served as an Acting Village Justice of the Tarrytown Village Court from 2006 to 2010. In 2010, he was appointed an acting judge of the Westchester County Family Court and a judge of the Westchester County Court.[2]
