Barry Lawrence

Barry Lawrence is a Utah Third Judicial District judge for the Salt Lake City District Court. He was appointed by Gov. Gary Herbert (R) on September 12, 2012.[1]
Lawrence won a retention election on November 8, 2016.[2]
Biography
Lawrence earned his B.A. in biology from Cornell University, and his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law.[1] Lawrence worked as an assistant attorney general in the Utah Attorney General's Office from June 2000 until 2012, and as its torts section chief from 2009 until 2012. Prior to his work in the Attorney General's Office, he was a shareholder with the law firm of Jones, Waldo, Holbrook & McDonough.[1]

Utah held retention elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. The filing deadline for sitting judges seeking retention was April 15, 2016. Barry Lawrence was retained in the Utah 3rd District Court (Lawrence Seat) election with 75.37 percent of the vote. [2]
