It has been my honor to serve as a Lomita council member representing our community. As a longtime Lomita resident with a master’s degree in public administration and over 30 years of local government experience, I bring a lot of experience to the job. More importantly, I bring a love for Lomita and a desire to make this city the best that it can be for everyone.
  • Keeping our city safe from both a law enforcement and traffic safety perspective is vital. Lomita has a low crime rate we need to maintain. We can be a safer community for the many pedestrians and bicyclists who use our streets in addition to having better maintained roads for everyone.
  • Quality recreation programming for people of all ages is part of being a good place to live. We need to make those programs affordable while continuing to be high quality. This is part of my goal of being a healthy city that provides opportunities for our residents to be active and socially engaged.
  • We need our reservoir online providing safe and affordable water as soon as possible. It has been a long road getting the new filtration system built. Not only is it important for maintaining a stable flow of water, but it is absolutely vital in case of a disaster that could disrupt outside water sources.
Operating the city efficiently and effectively are very important to me. In my decades in local government, I have worked with both well run and poorly run organizations. Not only do the well run cities make better use of their residents' money, but they deliver better services.
This question isn't really pertinent. The city has a limited role in the legal system.
Certainly the founding fathers. Starting this country was an amazing accomplishment. That we are still working from what they created is far more amazing.
Compassion, integrity, wisdom and intelligence are the most important qualities.
Overseeing the operation of the city and setting policy are the primary responsibilities of a council member.
A city that is well run and healthy for its residents.
I was a security guard for two summers during college. It is not a fun job, and I commend those who do it well.
Too many to choose from! I love reading.
"Beyond the Sea." I am a barbershop singer and almost always have a song going through my head.
Where do I start? My family had some rough times when I was a kid.
To the contrary, people should be aware of the limits of the office. While we certainly can make our opinions known to federal and state lawmakers, we must operate within the constraints they set.
Absolutely! For what other job would you hire people with no experience? Someone running for office should be involved in the community and have a good understanding of what they are stepping into.
As I stated above, compassion, integrity, wisdom and intelligence are the most important qualities. Listening and communicating are some of the most helpful skills in doing the job.
I don't dare. I did standup comedy for a while. If I start, I won't stop.
All information that can be shared with the public should be shared with the public. Keep the process open, keep the implementation open, and be honest with feedback on how it worked.
