Barry Russell
Barry Russell is a judge on the United States bankruptcy court, Central District of California. He was first appointed in 1974. Judge Russell served the court in the role of chief judge from 2003 to 2006. On August 6, 2012, he was honored as the most senior bankruptcy judge in the U.S. still actively serving.[1][2]
Education
Russell earned a Bachelor of Science and a J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.[2]
Career
Russell has worked as a civil servant for his entire professional career. His first legal job was with the U.S. Treasury Department. After one year's time, he moved on to a position with the Los Angeles County Office of the Public Defender. Three years later, he became an assistant U.S. attorney with the Department of Justice, where he remained until he was called to the bench.[2]
