This measure sought to renew the current library levy which is set at a rate of $1.71 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further ten years in order to continue to pay for library operational and maintenance costs in the district.[2]

The question on the ballot:
Shall the current millage of the Barryton Public Library District of Mecosta County, in an amount not to exceed 2.00 mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) reduced to 1.7136 mills ($1.71 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed for 10 years, 2013-2022 inclusive, to provide funds to the Barryton Public Library for all purposes authorized by law. If levied at its maximum amount this millage is estimated to provide revenues of $156,400.[3] |
