2014

On his campaign website, Turner highlighted the following issues:[4]
Casino

  • Excerpt: "I SUPPORT the casino/resort proposal. The city has spent far too much money on attorney’s fees already! We need the construction and operation jobs the casino can bring. Additionally, by law, Native American tribes with casinos are required to share a set portion of their gross gaming income with the state, counties, school districts and local city governments. Not only does Glendale need this revenue, so do the neighboring school districts."

Temporary sales tax

  • Excerpt: "I support extending the increase in the sales tax. The long range financial stability of the City is very important for providing the quality of life our citizens expect, attracting new businesses, and keeping our bond interest rates low. A 70¢ tax on a $100 purchase is not too much to ask for the security it provides."

The Coyotes

  • Excerpt: "Had I been on the City Council at the time, I would not have voted to award the new hockey team owners the management contract for the arena. It is simply bad policy to have the major tenant also manage the facility. We need a management team that has the City’s best interest uppermost at all times, and that also has the experience and industry connections necessary to keep the arena booked with a wide range of events on the 322 non-hockey nights of the year."
