My name is Baxter Stapleton and I have dedicated my life to seek justice and love kindness. I am running for Congress because the system will not change until we replace the leaders in it. Working, everyday people deserve a seat at the table in The People's House to make decisions in our best interest. My campaign is about accountability. In Congress I will fight to hold companies and the ultra wealthy accountable to pay their fair share in taxes for the greater good, and I will work to transform our economy to adapt and rise to the challenges of automation, climate change, and Chinese global power. As an active citizen I have helped bills successfully pass through Congress including the Lord's Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act of 2009 so I know how the system works and how to build strong coalitions. My experience as a filmmaker will aid me in holding corporate leaders accountable and educating the public about current public policy and how each bill I vote on will impact their lives.
  • Creating a moonshot for Ohio workers. We have a generational opportunity as the new Silicon Heartland with investments from Intel and other tech and defense companies. Ohio needs a fighter in Washington to get legislation passed that will support this new growth and invest in the best interests of workers and their families to build a life here in Ohio.
  • America needs to invest in and expand public education so citizens are prepared for jobs of the future and can invent new technologies.
  • Rebuilding a culture of entrepreneurship that made Dayton, Springfield and Ohio internationally renowned for invention. A culture of entrepreneurship demands health care for everyone so dreamers and builders are not reliant on employer based care and reluctant to leave a job to begin their new venture. Investments in infrastructure, child care, broadband internet access for everyone, a simpler and equitable tax code, and federal instruments like loans and grants to invest in business growth are all areas that will strengthen a culture for entrepreneurs in America to succeed.
Economic Affairs - the budget and making sure everyone pays their fair share in taxes

Defense spending, Intelligence and National Security - Wright Patterson Air Force base is incredibly significant to my area and its impact on innovation in the Defense Industry.
Environment - The US must lead in working to mitigate the impacts of climate change. The natural world is our most important asset.
Culture and Society - Civil Rights and the Arts, American culture is our greatest export and the arts is essential in creative thinking and problem solving.

Education - To remain competitive globally we need to invest in education at all levels.
My favorite book is The Bible. Love always wins.
The United States' greatest challenge as a nation over the next decade is how we transform our economy from the effects of automation, climate change and technology disruption. China is innovating faster than us and if we do not rise to the moment there is potential for a new world order.
I think term limits are essential especially in the US House. The Framers of the Constitution intended for the People's House to be a reflection of the changing wants and desires of the everyday people of this country and career politicians do not have the pulse of the people after being comfortable in office after several terms. We need term limits to increase competitiveness and grow new thinking in Congress so the best ideas and solutions become law.
What do you call an anti-vax nannie? ... Mrs. Doubt Pfizer
Compromise is the key to a healthy democracy and policymaking that demands checks and balances.
