Eliminate The Grocery Tax
- Excerpt: "Working families need relief from our state’s regressive tax structure. Alabama is one of two states in the country that still taxes food. Eliminating the Grocery Tax would apply to everyone in Alabama, but would be especially beneficial to members of the working middle class who need more of their income to meet basic needs."
Ensure That Residents of District 35 Have Access To Affordable Homeowners Insurance
- Excerpt: "Many hard-working families are faced with a choice of excessively priced policies or taking a risk of not having insurance. Others have lost their homes when the banks called in loans because they could not afford coverage. I am committed to working to ensure that all insurers doing business in Alabama, particularly in District 35, adhere to honorable and accountable practices."
Medicaid Expansion
- Excerpt: "Expansion of Medicaid will bring over 30,000 much needed jobs and billions in economic activity to our state. It will provide healthcare to a projected 185,000 working (300,000 total) Alabamians and help to keep many rural Alabama hospitals from closing."
Stop The Assault On Public Employees
- Excerpt: "It’s time that we stop putting all the woes of our state’s budget crisis on their backs and live up to the promises made to them by the state."
Assist Oystermen, Shrimpers And Others Who Make Their Living From Our Coastal Waters
- Excerpt: "Men and women who make a living off of our coastal waters face continued economic hardship. I am committed to supporting the economic interest of these hard working Alabamians in any way I can."
