Campaign website
Derlein's campaign website stated the following:
My Priorities
I am a current teacher with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, committed to ensuring quality education for every student. By prioritizing collaboration and transparency, I will work to build a supportive school district where every child can succeed.
Partnership with Families, Teachers, and Community Members
School Board Members should be accessible and accountable to the families, teachers, and community members that they serve. I intend to hear from all stakeholders and then use that feedback to drive thoughtful decision making.
Equitable Policies, Procedures, and Curriculum Decisions
All students deserve to learn and thrive in our schools! I am dedicated to ensuring a school system where every student has access to the resources and support needed to succeed. With responsible and equitable policy and curriculum decisions, we can make that happen.
Addressing Recent Budget Concerns
School districts across the state of Wisconsin have been facing budget concerns due to unexpected funding shortfalls coming from the state. We must budget appropriately, advocate for fair funding, and find ways to ensure that all district programs are supported, all while being responsible stewards of taxpayer funds.
Collaboration Across Differing Viewpoints
If elected, I will work collaboratively with all school board members to find common ground and serve the needs of students, families, and staff. I plan to work respectfully with all board members, recognizing that thoughtful disagreement strengthens better decision-making.
