Tymchuk provided the following statements on her campaign website:

Why I’m Running

In the 30 years I have lived in South Beaverton there have been many changes. There has been the addition of two elementary schools, a middle and high school. There are new neighborhoods, businesses and a community rec center. More change is coming and I feel I have the personal and professional history to represent the interests of our community.

I am excited about the future. Superintendent Rose and the current school board have worked hard to develop a strong vision and strategic plan. The Beaverton School District is a state leader for progressive programs and community financial support. As much as we have to celebrate we still have work to be done. We have students that are not graduating or are prepared for the next step after high school. The district cannot be content in the status quo. We must do better to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.

I have been an active volunteer as my two children attended Hiteon Elementary, Conestoga Middle School and Southridge High. I know firsthand how vitally important it is for this district to have engaged, effective, experienced and knowledgeable school board members.

My professional experience of working at the legislature, an educational non - profit and running my own consulting business will provide a unique perspective as a school board member.

I have a history of advocating for Beaverton schools and collaborating and partnering with teachers, students, staff, administrators and community members.

I have the energy, drive and passion to serve.

My Priorities
  • Reasonable class size and increased instructional time
  • An open line of communication with people throughout the district
  • Strong oversight of our district's limited financial resources
  • Provide additional Career Technical Education programs
  • Work toward long term financial sustainability to allow the district to re-establish staffing for school librarians, counselors and music programs.[4]
