A Bedford Heights Mayoral Absence Amendment measure was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Cuyahoga County, which is in Ohio where it was approved.
This measure amended the Bedford Heights City Charter to provide for procedures to be implemented when the Mayor is absent or incapacitated.[1]

Language on the ballot:
“ | Shall Article VII, Section 7.08, of the Charter of the City of Bedford Heights be amended to provide that in the event that the Mayor is absent, incapacitated or is unable for any cause to perform his/her duties, the Mayor or his/her designee shall inform the President of Council directly that the Mayor is unable to perform his/her duties and that it is necessary for the President of Council to assume the duties of the Mayor?[1][2] | ” |
