|I grew up in Chesterton, Indiana and learned the value of leadership and service at a young age in the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. I studied Political Science and Criminal Justice at Indiana University and then moved back to the area after graduating.
I work as an Operations Manager for a small business. My over 10 years of experience working in small business has given me extensive experience managing finances and budgets and executing projects.
I give back to the community as a member of the Valparaiso Fire Protection Board, Chair of the young professionals board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater NWI, and volunteer at the Westchester Township History Museum and Hilltop Food Pantry.- Indiana is a state where one political party holds the governor's office as well as majorities in the State Senate and House - we need to bring balance to our state government and that's exactly what my goal is.
- Our current state government isn't working. Our public schools are underfunded and over-tested, our workforce is being undermined, and our healthcare services are being attacked. I'm running to put things right.
- My priorities for our state are strengthening public education, supporting quality jobs, protecting our environment, and making healthcare more affordable.
Ralph became a mentor of mine. When I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, Ralph came to my ceremony and presented me with an Indiana state flag, one of the proudest moments of my life. Later in life, my wife and I would run into Ralph at the library where we was helping seniors with their retirement accounts or at the grocery store where he would update me on what he was doing.
And as we face the COVID-19 crisis, we don't know the long-term impact this pandemic will have on our economy and our families.
418,000 Hooisers depend on the Healthy Indiana Plan and this story continually reminds me that we need to do a better job of helping people get the care they need.
