Ben Brooks
Ben Brooks is a former Republican member of the Alabama State Senate, representing the 35th District from 2006 to December 4, 2012. He resigned after being elected as a Mobile County circuit judge on November 6, 2012.[1]
Brooks served on the Mobile City Council from 2001-2006.
Education
Brooks received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Alabama in 1980 and his J.D. from the University of Alabama in 1983.[2]
Career
Brooks served as a member of the Alabama State Senate from 2006 to 2012, representing Mobile County. Prior to that, he served on the Mobile City Council for five years. During this time, Brooks also served as a Special Judge on the Mobile County District Court.[2]

Elections
2012 judicial
Brooks defeated Eaton Gaston Barnard in the Republican primary on March 13, winning 67.91 percent of the vote. He was elected to the 13th Circuit Court after running unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]

Brooks won re-election to the 35th District seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He defeated Scott Buzbee in the November 2 general election.[4]

2006
On November 7, 2006, Brooks won election to the 35th District Seat in the Alabama State Senate, defeating opponent Gary Tanner (D).[5]
Brooks raised $637,859 for his campaign, while Tanner raised $956,140.[6]
