My life was shaped and improved by my teachers, coaches, and staff of the public schools I attended. My wife and I moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina in 2005 so that our children could benefit from the outstanding public schools in the WCPSS. I have a diverse background of experience, including over 35 years of program management experience as an Army officer and Department of the Army Civilian and Defense contractor. I have led Army, joint, and coalition forces during some of the most dangerous and time-constrained environments, including Operations Desert Shield/Storm and Enduring Freedom. While commanding the Army’s first fully digital M1A1 Tank Battalion and its 400 soldiers and their families - I maintained effective oversight of program management activities, including the projection, management, and execution of a $2.7M budget. I am Board certified in project management and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Supporting Teachers and Staff: I will always respect the concerns of our educators, teaching assistants, specialists, support staff, and administrators. They are professionals and deserve a strong support system, continuing professional development, and competitive pay. I strongly support having additional school counselors, mental health professionals, and social support staff available to all schools.
  • Parental Involvement and Partnership: I want to partner with parents to make sure their needs and concerns are heard and addressed. I believe a school system works best when parents are involved in the policies concerning their children.
  • Fair Budgeting I believe in being fiscally responsible, with an openness towards community concerns, and effective resourcing for all Wake County Public Schools.
I am passionate about supporting programs that provide people with basic needs so they can thrive and enjoy their lives and the promise of this great country: access to healthcare and a quality public education. I believe in supporting the armed services and our veterans and support policies that care for those who have served our country.
