- My main message is about bringing change to the Cabarrus County Clerk's Office. I am not talking about change simply for the sake of change but rather change brought about by real leadership that brings integrity, ethics, professionalism and transparency to serve all the residents of Cabarrus County. It is not only a change in leadership but a change in direction. The focus needs to bring about the realization that employees and all stakeholders who have an interest in the efficient operation of the Clerk's office are working toward a shared goal that ensures not only the equitable application of the law to facts but also understanding that it is a role of service to the public. Residents should expect and deserve nothing less.
- My second message is that I am not a politician. For me this is a job interview. In fact, you could possibly refer to me as the anti-politician candidate. As it is with so many other offices at the county level, politics should not come into play nor be a factor in deciding the level of service one should be provided or in rendering a just decision with respect to the justice all deserve. Many candidates are nothing more than puppets to their local party leadership willing to say or do whatever is requested of them to further an agenda. In that situation voters very rarely get the most qualified candidate but instead get someone more interested in keeping their job than in doing it. That needs to change and that is my goal.
- My last message is that of competency and ability to do the job. I am the only attorney in the race, have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, am a former adjunct professor of business law, Vice President of a 501(c)(3) that promotes literacy, former Board Member of the Teen Court and Mediation Department and former Teen Court Judge volunteer. Given the opportunity to choose an attorney to serve as the Clerk of Court as opposed to continuing with business as usual or worse, voters should become informed as to the qualifications of candidates and choose appropriately. You don't take your taxes to your car mechanic and you should not entrust the operation of the Clerk's office to someone that requires on-the-job training.
