Ben Jones (South Dakota)
Ben Jones was the South Dakota secretary of education. Gov. Kristi Noem (R) appointed him interim secretary in December 2018; he took office in January 2019.[1] Gov. Noem appointed Jones permanent secretary of education on May 7, 2019.[2] He resigned on December 9, 2020, to become state historian and director of the South Dakota State Historical Society.[3]
Biography
Jones earned a Ph.D. in history from the University of Kansas. Prior to becoming South Dakota's secretary of education, he worked as dean of Dakota State University's College of Arts and Sciences.[4]
