Benjamin grew up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts at a time when small towns still built things. His father was a mechanic and handyman and his mother worked various jobs including making plastic cassette tapes. His family had their fair share of tough times.

One of my earliest memories is standing in line at the food pantry with my mother. But, like many working families, we picked ourselves up and kept going. Giving up was never an option.

Early in Ben’s childhood, his family was ripped apart by the opioid crisis. His father, like many blue-collar workers, got hurt on the job and became addicted to prescription pain killers. When those became too expensive, he started using heroin. Being raised by a single mother shaped Ben’s views on issues like paid family leave, childcare subsidies, and the challenges that working parents face balancing work and home.

After graduation, Ben went to work for the federal government assisting in the aftermath of the Financial Crisis and the Great Recession. During his time with the federal government, he held various positions including as an attorney at the National Credit Union Administration and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Ben is currently an Associate at Buckley LLP. Along the way, Ben settled down in Stafford County, with his wife, Valerie. More family followed and currently live in Spotsylvania County.
  • Jobs: Working to attract well-paying jobs to the district. Supporting small businesses and farmers by ensuring they have a local workforce that can afford to live in the communities where they work. Supporting working parents by expanding access to affordable early childhood education and childcare.
  • Transportation: Addressing our transportation needs by expanding regional mass transit through FRED Regional Transit and VRE including weekend service from Fredericksburg to Washington, D.C. Delivering funds to fix flooded local roads like Brooke Road and Harrell Road in Stafford.
  • Education: Supporting the creation of a school construction fund to address the expanding facility needs of the district. Working with local leaders to establish a regional school for workforce development. Reimagining public school education to create a direct pipeline from the classroom to the workplace.
In his capacity as a consumer protection lawyer, Ben took on Wall Street and helped deliver millions are dollars to consumers getting scammed during the COVID-19 Pandemic. If elected, he would be the only consumer finance attorney in the Virginia State Senate, and the youngest member of the Senate.

Ben kept the big boys honest on Wall Street, now he's running to take on the powerful and wealthy in Richmond to deliver better jobs, transportation, and education for working people in Senate District 27.
