|On the school board, Meiklejohn passed policy to allow student representatives on the school board, policy eventually adopted by boards statewide. Meiklejohn got pesticides banned near school properties and pushed for greener standards in school construction. Meiklejohn served as chair of the school board's policy and finance committees. Meiklejohn has also served as president of the University of Maine Student Government and was a student representative to the University of Maine System Board of Trustees for both the University of Maine and University of Southern Maine at different times.
