Ben Souther is a 7th generation Northeast Georgian and former University of Georgia Football player. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors in Business Administration from the Terry College of Business. He and his wife, Kristen, have three children. The Souther’s were foster parents in the North Georgia community and continue to fight for a better Foster Care System.

Prior to announcing his run for US Congress, Souther was a Special Agent in the FBI. In federal law enforcement, Souther saw, firsthand, the issues affecting the Country. He also saw how large federal government cannot effectively prioritize issues.

Souther is a fierce advocate for energy independence and critical manufacturing being brought back to the United States. Politicizing common sense issues, such as energy, manufacturing, and border security have put the United States in a terrible position to negotiate in protecting our homeland and economy.
  • Restore Energy Independence in America. We need to stop relying on foreign countries to supply our energy and reopen the XL pipeline. When we rely on other countries to provide our energy, it becomes a national security threat.
  • Bring manufacturing back to the USA and solve the supply chain crisis: China is not our friend. Our nation will be crippled in the decades to come if we allow most of our products to be imported. We need common sense business leaders to be the minds behind fixing our broken supply chain.
  • Protect the sanctity of life. This includes support for the foster care system and adoption process.
Ben is personally interested in energy, manufacturing, education, and crime.
Ben believes the core responsibilities include representing his district. This means voting when the time comes to vote and listening to the problems of the constituents. The representative needs to understand the problems and come up with strategic ways to solve them. A representative should be able to work “across the aisle” with the other side to come together to solve bipartisan issues. Ben’s experience in the FBI with negotiation makes him a great person to negotiate bipartisan issues and work together with both sides.

Campaign website

Souther's campaign website stated the following:

Current Issues

  • No Federal Mandates: Individual freedom and choice reigns supreme. No mask or vaccine mandates from the Federal Government. No American should lose their job because of refusing a COVID vaccine. We will not allow the federal government to parent our children.
  • Pro-Life: 100% pro-life. Life begins at conception. Pro-life also means supporting our Foster Care & Adoption processes.
  • Election Integrity: States have the constitutional right to manage their elections. Georgia is leading the fight in election integrity. Keep the liberal power grab out.

Economy

  • Reduce Government Regulations: The federal government can’t take care of itself, we don’t need their opinion on how to run our economy.
  • Restore Energy Independence: Gas is skyrocketing, and it directly hurts our district. Reopen the XL Pipeline.
  • Bring manufacturing back to the USA and solve the supply chain crisis: China is not our friend. Our nation will be crippled in the decades to come if we allow most of our products to be imported. We need common sense business leaders to be the minds behind fixing our broken supply chain.

Crime / National Security

  • Secure the Border: Finish the border wall. Border security is one of the leading threats to our national security and should not be a political weapon.
  • Election Integrity: Stand against federalizing elections.
  • Dismantle ANTIFA & figure out who’s funding it: End the FBI Federal Elections Task Force until we solve the true problems.
  • Non-Partisan Federal Agencies: Appoint leaders who have proven to be effective in the respective field. No more promotion-seekers.

Education

  • Let teachers, teach: Stop the ridiculous testing and documentation in the classroom. It’s driving quality Teachers away from the profession and our kids are suffering.
  • Overhaul the Department of Education: Washington DC can’t take care of itself; they certainly don’t know what’s best for our local classrooms.
  • Keep the Government out of our classrooms: Our district is great because of the people in it. We don’t need unaccountable bureaucrats in DC telling us how to run our local schools.

Freedom & Justice for All

Review the Bill of Rights. We have highlighted three of these.

  • Protect the 1st Amendment: Freedom of Speech. It is time for us to address Big Tech.
  • Protect the 2nd Amendment: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Without the second amendment there are no other freedoms.
  • Protect the 4th Amendment: Unlawful searches and seizures. When probable cause becomes an opinion, no one is safe.[3]
