This measure sought to renew the current school levy which is set at a rate of $.43 per $100 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to continue to pay for current expenses in the school district.[2]

The question on the ballot:
| A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Benton-Carroll-Salem Local School District for the purpose of current expenses at a rate not exceeding 4.33 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.433 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 5 years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013.[3] |
