Sanchez filed to run for re-election in 2012. She was set to run against Jacob Candelaria and Carlos Jose Villanueva in the June 5, 2012, Democratic primary, but withdrew prior to the election.[2][3]
2008

On November 4, 2008, Sanchez was elected to the 26th District Seat in the New Mexico Senate, besting Spiro Gregory Vassilopoulos (R).[4] Sanchez raised $45,597 for her campaign, while Vassilopoulos did not raise any money.[5]
