Bernard Malone was a judge on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department. He served the Third Department from February 11, 2008, after an appointment by Governor Spitzer, until December 31, 2012. Previously, he was appointed to the First Department of the Appellate Division in August of 2005 by Governor Pataki.[1][2][3]

Education

Judge Malone graduated from Niagara University and Albany Law School. From 1965 to 1969, he served as an Army officer in the Vietnam War.[1]

Career

At the beginning of his legal career, from 1974 to 1982, Judge Malone worked as a partner of the law firm Hinman, Straub, Pigors & Manning. He also worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Albany County. In 1982, he became an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York. He held this position until he was appointed Justice of the State Supreme Court in Albany County in 1998. He was elected in November of 1998 to a term ending in 2012.[1][2]

2012 election

Malone ran for re-election to the Supreme Court 3rd District in 2012. He was endorsed by the Republican and Independence parties. Malone was defeated in the general election, receiving 17.93 percent of the vote.[4][5] [6]
