Bernard Schwartz was an American legal scholar. He served on the New York University School of Law faculty for 45 years and held the position of Edwin D. Webb Professor of Law from 1963 until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement from NYU, Schwartz was appointed to serve as the Chapman Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Tulsa Law School. He wrote more than 60 books during his career on topics ranging from the U.S. Supreme Court to federal administrative agencies. Schwartz passed away in 1997 after being struck by a vehicle in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Schwartz passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 98.[1][2]
